Was a blacksmith and yeoman farmer. Tradition says he served in Revolutionary War, but no records exist. Was Capt. of militia, served in War of 1812. Descendants spell name Clement. In Somersworth 17 May 1803. In Frankfort 5 Jul 1804. 1790 census shows him in Somersworth with two sons under 16, a daughter, and his wife. In 1800 he, his wife, one male 16-26, one 10-16, three under 10, one female 16-26, one 10-16, two under 10.
